The Use of Displaced Palestinian Students to Egypt of Social Media Applications in Distance Learning

Objectives: The study aims to explore the use of displaced Palestinian students in Egypt of the social media applications for remote learning, their appreciation of the significance of this usage, and the learning gratifications they achieved. Methods: The study is achieved through a descriptive field study using a survey approach, being applied to a sample consistent of (314) students through a questionnaire. Results: The most important results of the study are as follows: 66.7% of students use the social media applications daily; while 53.5% use them for remote learning daily as well. Students have had a high level of appreciation for the importance of using these applications in remote learning. There are no statistically significant differences in students’ average ratings of the importance of social media applications in learning based on gender or grade level. Additionally, students have achieved a high level of learning gratification using such applications. There are no statistically significant differences in these gratification levels based on “gender”; however, there are differences based on “grade level”, with students in grades (7–9 and 10–12), who have reporting higher levels of gratification compared to those in grades (4– 6). Conclusions: The study recommends raising awareness of the importance of social media applications in remote learning, enhancing and developing their educational use, in addition to improving the quality of the educational content provided through these platforms, and helping students maximize their benefits from these applications in remote learning.
الأهداف: هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على استخدام الطلبة الفلسطينيين النازحين إلى مصر لتطبيقات التواصل الاجتماعي في التعلم عن بُعد ومدى تقديرهم لأهمية هذا الاستخدام والإشباعات التعلمية المتحققة. المنهجية: دراسة وصفية ميدانية استُخدم فيها أسلوب المسح، حيث طُبِّقت الدراسة على عينة قوامها (314) مفردة. النتائج: من أبرز نتائج الدراسة: أن (66.7%) من الطلبة يستخدمون تطبيقات التواصل الاجتماعي يوميًا، وأن (53.5%) يستخدمونها في التعلم عن بُعد يوميًا أيضًا. كما كان مستوى تقديرهم مرتفعًا لأهمية استخدام تلك التطبيقات في التعلم عن بُعد. ولا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط تقديرات الطلبة لأهمية الاستخدام تعزى لمتغيري: النوع، والصف الدراسي. وكان مستوى تقدير الطلبة مرتفعًا للإشباعات التعلمية المتحققة لديهم جراء استخدامهم التطبيقات، ولا توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط تقديرات الطلبة للإشباعات المتحققة تعزى لمتغير النوع، فيما كانت هناك فروق تعزى لمتغير الصفوف الدراسية: صفوف (7-9) و(10-12) مقابل صفوف (4-6)، لصالح الفئتين الأوليتين. توصيات الدراسة: تعزيز الوعي بأهمية استخدام تطبيقات التواصل الاجتماعي في التعلم عن بُعد، وتطوير استخدامها، وتحسين المحتوى التعليمي المقدم فيها، ومساعدة الطلبة على كيفية الاستفادة القصوى منها في التعلم عن بُعد.
