Strategic Leadership and Its Impact on Crisis Management in Government Offices in Taiz City: A Field Study

Abstract

This study examined the impact of strategic leadership in its dimensions (determining the strategic direction, investing capabilities and talents, developing human capital, supporting and developing organizational culture, promoting ethical practices, implementing balanced organizational oversight) on crisis management in government offices in Taiz city. Using an analytical descriptive approach, data were collected via questionnaires from 260 employees across five government offices, with 241 questionnaires analyzed using SPSS for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis. Results showed that strategic leadership is practiced at a moderate level, with strategic direction being the highest practiced and human capital development and balanced control the least practiced. Crisis management was also applied at a moderate level. The study found a statistically significant positive impact of strategic leadership on crisis management. The most influential dimensions, in order, were balanced organizational control, human capital development, talent investment, organizational culture, strategic direction, and ethical practices. These findings highlight the importance of strategic leadership in enhancing crisis management and provide insights for improving leadership practices in the government offices to better handle crises.
