Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate the influences of pomegranate peel and garlic powder on the hematology, and histology parameters of carp fish. Thirty-six healthy common carp fish (Cyprinus carpio) were used in this experiment. Fish were distributed into six groups: G1; the fish fed on a normal diet; G2 till G4; the fish fed on a diet that was mixed with 1 5g.kg-1 of Oxytetracycline (OTC) to diet, sprayed on the diet, and added to the water, respectively. G5 and G6; the fish fed on a diet mixed with 1 5g.kg-1 diet of OTC+ diet treated with 2.5mg.kg-1 diet of pomegranate and garlic, respectively. At the end of the feeding trial (14 days) blood was collected for haematological parameters analysis, then the liver and pyloric caeca were taken and fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin for histopathologic examination. The obtained results showed that RBC, MCV, and MCHC were significantly higher in fish fed at the different routes of OCT than the pomegranate and garlic groups which attenuated the OCT effect, while Hb was significantly increased in fish fed with OCT except for G2 (P ≤0.05) vs. to the Pomegranate and Garlic groups that improved their levels. PLT of fish fed at sprayed OTC significantly elevated (P ≤0.05) in comparison to the natural remedies group. The study concluded the lesion that induced by OCT may be due to antibacterial resistance, dietary pomegranate and Garlic are recommended for enhancing the haematologic parameters, histological intact, and health status of carp fish.
